The fundamentals of warehouse location from the user's point of view were discussed in the previous section. The positioning of logistics sites is the result of an economic trade-off between the dynamic part of logistics (transport, flows) and the static part (logistics sites).

The implementation of logistics is also the result of a balance between a market approach and a public policy approach.

The geography of logistics is extremely varied, as it is segmented by industry. A region's logistics profile is always highly specific, and linked to its economic and demographic profile. When presented with a logistics building project, local councillors often express the wish to know who the occupier is, and not just the developer or investor.
