A professional sector or a company can also develop standards known as sector or company standards.

ACANOR (Association française pour la connaissance et l'application des normes - French association for the knowledge and application of standards) helps to organize and energize the standardization function within companies.

Its main objectives are :

• to promote all activities likely to lead to a better knowledge of standards and to facilitate their application;

• develop a network of standards users ;
