4. Regulatory and standards organization

"Standardization, whether national, European or international, cannot replace, weaken or contradict legislation. Standardization bodies remain, however, free to draw up standards within the limits set by regulations. Where standardization touches on legislation, however, it will always be the responsibility of the public authorities to define the parameters and monitor the process, possibly through direct participation to ensure compliance with said parameters" [1] .
