Overview
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the packaging, marketing and design, protection of the environment, costs, logistical constraints (…) are so many aspects to be taken into account before designing an efficient container corresponding to the various needs of users and industrialists. Bearing in mind that the stage preceding the designing of the product is crucial, it is necessary to comply with accurate and carefully drafted specifications. This article presents a methodology in order to address packaging issues upstream and more specifically issues related to the drafting of specifications.

INTRODUCTION
Functional or non-functional specifications, decision models, technical specifications, specifications, approved or certified materials, packaging methods or standards... All these names, and a few others, mark out the definition of product quality and, more specifically, packaging quality. But how does one find one's way around?
Over the last thirty years, the packaging market has evolved considerably, and so have the principles governing the choice of packaging.
The packaging business has long been underestimated as not being the company's primary vocation.
It's still common to see it handled by non-specialized departments, ill-suited to the task and with only a partial view of the problem.
Knowing that everything happens at the design stage, we have tried to lay the foundations of a methodology for dealing with packaging problems at source, and more specifically for drawing up functional specifications.
