5. Strap closing methods

They vary according to whether metal or plastic strapping is used.

5.1 Closures for metal strapping

The main system consists of placing a metal part, called a clevis or seal, where the two strands of the strap are superimposed under tension. The clevis or seal wraps around the two strands of the strap, and is then mechanically sealed by a clamp. This metal part is then mechanically sealed by a clamp, which makes notches or lateral deformations on the metal part, thus creating a real lock.

Depending on the strapping equipment used, seals are presented, as previously mentioned, in bulk or in chargers. The shape and size of their wings can vary according to their intended use, i.e. conventional strapping or off-strap (figure
