8.1 Description of an aircraft engine fire extinguishing system

Fire is an aircraft's worst enemy, whether inside or outside. Speed of intervention is an essential factor. In the event of an uncontrolled fire, the survival time of an aircraft is estimated at just a few minutes. To prevent the loss of the aircraft and its passengers in the event of a fire on one or more engines, aircraft manufacturers have developed mandatory fire detection and extinguishing systems referenced under ATA-26. The application example is an adaptation of the case study presented in Reliasoft's MPC10 software, which complies with ATA regulations.
