2. Car manufacturing

2.1 Main requirements and problems

  • You need to be able to glue either composite parts to each other, for example an inner reinforcing part to an outer surface (hood, boot door), or composite parts to the car's metal body.

    Only polyurethane (PU), epoxy and structural acrylic adhesives are suitable for strong adhesion to these two types of material.

  • The adhesive must be able to be applied automatically on the line using robots: 10 or 20 linear meters of glued joints per car are common, and this determines the ease of application and the rheology of the adhesive, which must give a very even bead even in rounded areas.
