Overview
ABSTRACT
Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is one of the most abundant mineral on the surface of the globe. It can be found in a great variety of forms: massive limestone, chalk, marmor…Whether natural or precipitated, this mineral load is the most widely used in the industry of plastic materials. It is used in sectors such as the building industry, the automobile industry and everyday life. The various production methods give access to a wide range of morphologies and impart numerous features to calcium carbonate.

INTRODUCTION
Calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) is one of the most abundant minerals on the earth's surface; it is found in a huge number of forms: solid limestone, chalk, marble ...
Natural or precipitated, this mineral filler is the most widely used in the plastics industry. It is used in fields such as the construction industry (paints, sealants, rigid PVC), the automotive industry (plastisols for shimming and anti-gravelling protection, sealants) and in everyday life (paper, printing inks, pharmaceuticals and parapharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food). The various production methods used give access to a wide range of morphologies, and enable a large number of functionalities to be conferred on calcium carbonate. To achieve this, specific surface treatments are applied to suit the intended applications.
