6. Blow molds
The mould ensures :
the final shape of the product by contact of the parison with the mould cavity during blowing;
gluing the parison back together to form the envelope;
sealing the envelope in the mold;
cooling the envelope through heat exchange.
A mould consists of the following components (figure 37 ):
the impression, into which the shape of the blown body is carved;
the socket, which secures the impression to the press platens;
