4. Mould servo-control
In Europe, 10-20% of plastic injection molds are equipped with hydraulic servo-controls. Fully electric presses are not equipped with hydraulic power units as standard. Today, however, there are many ways of replacing this energy source.
4.1 Unscrewing motor
This system is mainly used for injection molding of plugs or parts with screw threads. It is generally performed by a hydraulic unscrewing motor directly fed by the press hydraulic system. This hydraulic motor can easily be replaced by an electric motor. However, it is important to bear in mind that, for the same unscrewing power, the electric motor takes up 30% to 50% more space than a hydraulic motor. It does, however, have the advantage of being less polluting and more precise.
