This article focuses on the measures taken by European and French authorities against plastics, mainly on the grounds that they harm the environment.

  • In France

    The French legal framework is therefore found in the Environmental Code:

    • Articles L541-1 et seq. containing the legislative provisions (L = law) relating to the prevention and management of waste produced by households and professional activities;

    • Articles R541-227 et seq. containing the provisions laid down by decree (R = decree issued after consultation with the Council of State) for consumer information on product qualities, in particular their compostability or recyclability;
