3. Conclusion

The principles of the RCM methods described in this article are based on the methodology developed by N&H for the aerospace industry as early as 1978. Considered to be in line with the original N&H RCM, they are each characterized by the use of structured and rigorous steps that lead to truly applicable and effective maintenance tasks, whatever the consequences of failures. They differ in terms of terminology and criticality criteria.

However, these classic RCM methods require in-depth analysis, which is costly in terms of resources and time. For this reason, simplified approaches that do not respect the N&H approach have emerged and are referred to as reverse RCM methods, notably Steve Turner's PMO2000 method
