4. Conclusion

Flammable gas detection is an essential link in the chain of prevention and mitigation of explosion risks. Indeed, in the event of a loss of containment of a flammable gas, the aim of detection is to detect the leak early enough to take the necessary measures to limit the size of the gas cloud, reduce the probability of ignition and limit the effects of the explosion in the event of ignition.

The first step in planning the installation of detectors is to carry out a risk analysis to define the areas at risk where a detection system is required. It's vital to take the time to define explicitly the detection objectives. The choice of implementation methodology will essentially depend on these objectives.
