2. Determine the CLP classification of your mixture on the basis of the equivalence rules

The rules for equivalence are set out in Annex I of the CLP regulation. They are generally common-sense practices. They are presented below, together with their field of applicability.

2.1 Dilution rule

A mixture A is diluted by a substance B which belongs to a hazard category equivalent to or lower than the least toxic component of the mixture. Substance B has no impact on the behavior of the other components. The new mixture is classified as the original mixture.

This rule applies in particular to irritant mixtures to which a non-hazardous component is added, or to corrosive mixtures to which a non-hazardous or irritant component is added.
