1. What is parcel delivery?
Dangerous goods can be shipped in two main ways.
"Unit delivery": the material is packaged in a container which is intended to be delivered to its place of use in its entirety, closed and in the same condition as when it left the production site. This is known as a "package".
"Split delivery": the material is packaged in "bulk" in a container, the emptying of which is split into several separate deliveries, to several locations where the material is used, the distance between the delivery locations necessitating the use of public roads to get from one to the other. Emptying is carried out with the possible assistance of a pump forming part of the usual service equipment duly authorized for installation on the container.
