 INTRODUCTION

Summary: Reducing the use of petroleum-based products in the current economic and ecological context means turning to sustainable, biosourced raw materials. Lipids are key molecules for the production of biodiesel and green chemistry products. Yeast is the cell of choice for custom lipid production. The combination of metabolic engineering and genetic engineering approaches enables the production of these molecules of interest to be optimized. The use of knowledge acquired on lipid storage in plants and in S. cerevisiae is leading to the development of innovative cellular systems for renewable energy production.

Abstract: the decrease of petroleum product usage due to economic and ecologic present context leads to find renewable and durable raw material. Lipids are key molecules for the production of biofuel and green chemistry products. Yeasts are of interest for designed lipid production. The association of metabolic and genetic approaches allows to optimize production of useful molecules. The use of knowledge on lipid storage in plants and in S. cerevisiae leads to develop innovative cell systems for renewable energy production.
