    Overview

    ABSTRACT

The preparation of N-heterocyclic compounds is still relevant today due to their applications in the chemical industry, health, fine chemicals, treatment of waste gases and water. However, in the case of imidazolium carboxylates, their production on a large scale remains limited, because its synthesis is unsafe for humans and the environment. In this article, we demonstrate that electrosynthesis is a future technology that can solve this problem. It offers a response to the current environmental and societal challenges by new a life cycle approach, which we call eco-design of nitrogen heterocyclic compounds.
