2. Electrodialysis membranes

There are two types of membrane: ion exchange membranes (IEMs) and bipolar membranes (PBMs).

These two types of membrane are used to perform different transformations, depending on the configuration of the stacks involved 3 . IEMs are sometimes referred to as homopolar membranes, as opposed to bipolar MB membranes.
