5. Conclusion and prospects for ultrasound in organic chemistry

Ultrasound has many applications, from the food industry, aerospace, automotive, and construction to the medical sector. In sonochemistry, while it provides simple solutions to certain problems in organic synthesis, the theoretical interpretation of its impact on the reactivity of the chemical species present remains complex. However, although our understanding of the phenomenon of cavitation is incomplete, it is now possible to explain the effects of ultrasound in organic synthesis rationally. Indeed, while some reactions see their kinetics accelerate without the products obtained being modified, others, on the other hand, undergo inversions that suggest a more specific intervention of the cavitation phenomenon, or even the possible existence of electron transfer processes. Combining sonochemistry with other techniques makes it possible to overcome some of its limitations and improve its...
