6. Combustion air circuit
The combustion air circuit is not specific to the slow motor. Figure 37 illustrates the case of suction for the propulsion engine and auxiliary generator motors in the engine room. The fresh air is conveyed through a duct which has its inlet on the ship's deck, an inlet designed to prevent the introduction of sea spray or undesirable objects. This arrangement also provides ventilation for the engine room, with a slight negative pressure that can be reduced by an electric fan.
