3. Vacuum technology

ISO/TC 112, set up in 1964, is responsible for standardizing vacuum technology, both in the field of equipment (essential characteristics, dimensions and materials) and in that of definitions and measurement methods. Its current structure (figure 1 ) was set up at the instigation of the USA.

Applications are highly diverse and complex, in both research and industry, and cover a wide range of fields: semiconductors, instrumentation, electricity, optics, aeronautics, nuclear, food processing, pharmaceuticals, refrigeration, etc. Our main partners are component manufacturers and laboratories highly specialized in negative pressure measurements.

The work program adopted in March 1996 is fairly ambitious, and should make it possible to revise existing standards...
