4. Reliability approach: automotive example

4.1 Context

The use of a car by a driver is specific and influenced by parameters as diverse as the type and condition of the road, traffic, weather conditions and the driver's mood and experience. Consequently, the set of loads that can be measured on a part is de facto probabilistic. The fatigue sizing protocol is therefore based on the resistance-stress method, in order to achieve a sufficient level of reliability
