1. Isothermal hydrodynamic lubrication

1.1 Geometric and kinematic model with three degrees of freedom

The study of lubrication between the surfaces of a mechanical seal requires the definition of a geometric and kinematic model. This model makes it possible to determine the position and velocity of each point on the surfaces. This point is covered in detail in a previous article [BM 5 421] . However, it is worth recalling a few points.
