2. Hertzian pressure and deformation

This paragraph presents the calculation of Hertzian pressure in the case of linear contact. The roller/track contact can be considered linear in cylindrical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, and needle roller bearings. Spherical roller bearings generally combine linear contact on one raceway and point contact on the other raceway. Point contact is discussed in the article [BM 5 372] .
