2. Theoretical modeling of local events

The statistical models presented in the previous paragraph ignore the intermediate evolutions of the random load studied. To take this into account, a load is represented as a series of rises and falls. The succession of these changes between peaks and troughs in the evolution of the stresses is another approach to describing the severity of the excitatory stresses on the systems and components under study. In this way, the modeling focuses on the most representative local events. These are the four families of events (positive peaks, positive troughs, negative peaks and negative troughs) presented in paragraph 2.3.2 of . For random loads observed under conditions of use, each type of local event forms a homogeneous sample.
