5. Conclusion
Tribology is a unique discipline and an economically important cross-disciplinary technology, as it is found everywhere in everyday life through mechanisms and machines.
The functional properties of a tribosystem can be defined in terms of several orders of magnitude, e.g. the coefficient of friction can have up to five orders of magnitude, and wear rates up to twelve.
There is no such thing as a material with a high or low wear rate: rather, we should speak of materials that are adapted or not to a permissible wear rate.
Opting for a relational database means that the results of the tribological tests generated can be archived globally and on a daily basis, supplemented by secondary information on the samples.
