8.1 Manufacturer's responsibilities
Product safety begins with the choice of raw materials. It is the manufacturer's duty to use only raw materials that pose the least possible risk to the health of the user.
For example, base oils must be free of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated terphenyls (PCTs), and have the lowest possible levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
The combination of nitrites and secondary amines (diethanolamine) as a corrosion inhibitor should no longer be used, even for supplemental dosing (risk of nitrosamine formation).
When choosing a biocide, it is important to ensure that the substances are as harmless as possible to the user.
