The properties of the aqueous fluid in service are constantly changing. The main causes of this phenomenon are:

  • non-emulsified additives;

  • the presence of metallic microparticles;

  • the absence of filtration or inadequate filtration;

  • increased mineral salts and chlorides in water;

  • maintenance oil pollution, combined with a lack of oil removal;

  • failure to comply with concentrations (poor preparation and/or poor monitoring);

  • etc.
