1. Reproduction cutting tool

As a reminder, the simplest method of obtaining a toothing is jig hobbing, but it is rarely used, except in very special cases involving large dimensions. Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram in which the cutting movement is similar to that of a vise-filer, with a single-edged tool.

At present, the most common tools for cutting by reproduction are the end mill and the disc cutter (or milling cutter-module).
