3. Application to C3 crossmember

The results presented here were obtained using the methodology, tools and input data described above. The duration of the calculations, carried out on a server with four processors, is of the order of 30 h for the thermal and 17 h for the mechanical. The time difference between the thermal and mechanical calculations can be explained by the fact that the thermal calculation is performed first, with fine time steps (of the order of 0.1 s), whereas the mechanical calculation uses a time-optimized breakdown based on the analysis of thermal results.

3.1 Thermo-metallurgical results

Thermal results are saved in the form of maps (1,545 in total), which are then read during the mechanical calculation. Total analysis time is 3,440 s, including 1,800 s for final cooling....
