3. Shape reproduction by routing

3.1 Principle

Form reproduction by routing involves using a form tool and moving it in one direction. The material is progressively removed, and the electrode tool gradually reproduces its shape in the part, in negative, with a slight difference in dimensions (figure 11 ). This technique requires the prior manufacture of one or more electrodes. It was the first to be used, and accounts for around 60% of the techniques used on today's machines.
