3. Implementation tools

It's worth remembering that, with lasers and plasma, cutting is achieved by localized fusion of the metal. The energy required for this fusion is supplied by the source, the torch. The power used is therefore a decisive parameter. Power gives an indication of productivity and (electrical) consumption.

In oxy-fuel cutting, the cut is obtained by burning the metal in oxygen. The process is virtually "energy independent". The notion of power here would be purely academic (there is work involved, since the metal is cut; there is a time involved in carrying out this work, so it is possible to calculate power...). In any case, the "power" of flame cutting would not be comparable (either as a concept or in value) with the notion of power of a plasma torch or a laser.
