4. TIG weld quality

TIG welding is considered to be a process that produces excellent weld quality, provided that the welds are carried out in accordance with the rules of the art. Only defects specific to the process are dealt with in this paragraph. In fact, a large number of defects, particularly metallurgical ones, can be encountered in TIG welding.

4.1 Tungsten inclusion

This is a defect specific to TIG welding. The weld contains larger or smaller pieces of tungsten, which can be a source of corrosion. As tungsten is very dense, it is generally found at the bottom of weld seams.
