1. Behavior analysis

Operating situations and hypothetical situations taken into account for mechanical behavior studies are classified according to their frequency in service or their postulated probability of occurrence as :

  • normal situations ;

  • exceptional situations ;

  • accidental situations.

Normal situations include continuous operation, transient conditions (starting, stopping, load variations, etc.) and common operating incidents.

Exceptional situations are those in which the device may find itself in very infrequent accidental circumstances, but which must be considered.

Accident situations correspond to highly improbable accident circumstances, the consequences of which should nevertheless be studied as...
