5. Conclusion

All the elements developed in this article focus on a basic and elementary presentation of combustion and more particularly its energetic aspects.

The chemical foundations of combustion have not been dealt with, as they are complex but undoubtedly necessary for dealing with local and/or instantaneous problems, such as those analyzed during combustion in a reciprocating engine, particularly in the vicinity of the walls. This kind of development is also necessary, for example, to gain precise knowledge of the various products produced during combustion for environmental protection purposes. Specialized books are devoted to these analyses.
