3. Assess the energy performance of your lighting system

The NF EN 15193 standard (Energy performance of buildings – Energy requirements for lighting) provides a methodology for calculating lighting consumption for new or renovated buildings in line with the criteria of the French Energy Efficiency Standard ( directive européenne sur la performance énergétique des bâtiments (DE 2 002/91/CE) ).

The building's lighting consumption is calculated in kWh per square meter per year, in the form of the W/A indicator, with:

  • W total power (in W) consumed by lighting (lamps and power supply and management accessories);

  • Total usable floor space (in square meters) of the building.
