Ergonomic diagnostics focus on luminance perception and average illuminance to ensure that different visual tasks can be performed (NF EN 12464-1).
For example, reading and writing on paper (with a reflection factor of 0.80) requires an average illuminance of 500 lx to be maintained on the visual task, in accordance with standard NF EN 12464-1. If the operator is over 45 years of age, visual performance deteriorates with age; the average illuminance to be maintained is increased to 750 lx, reaching 1,000 lx if the situation presents risks. This Emoy illuminance (in lx) is given on the reference surface of the work area where the visual task (work requiring sufficient lighting) is performed.
