 INTRODUCTION

The annual time spent by people in offices is 1,650 hours; a significant proportion of this time requires the use of lighting. In addition, lighting in common areas is used for between 1,600 and 1,700 hours. Office spaces alone in France comprise 53,500 light fixtures (115,500 lamps and 85,500 ballasts) out of a total of 82,400 light fixtures (170,000 lamps and 122,500 ballasts) for all uses, representing a density of 0.2 light fixtures per square meter. Only 6% of these luminaires have been renovated.

The average energy flow in office premises is estimated at 15.7 W/m 2 , whereas with recent technologies, the accessible flow, with the same visual comfort, is 7 W/m 2 .

It is therefore essential to reduce the energy consumption associated with lighting. This fact sheet will help you maintain or even improve the required levels of visual comfort as defined by the AFNOR NF X35-103 standard "Ergonomic principles applicable to workplace lighting" and implement more energy-efficient lighting technologies.
