15. Area occupied

The surface area occupied by an energy production system is a parameter that must be taken into account when a country's population density is high, and when questions of social acceptance come into play. Individuals want electricity as long as it's not produced close to home, which is all the more the case in France with electricity equalization, where the price of electricity is the same wherever you are, provided you're connected to the national grid. In this case, most people prefer to have their electricity generation facilities as far away from home as possible.

Transporting electricity from its place of production to its place of consumption also poses problems. This is the case for the high-voltage lines that are to link northern Germany, where power is generated by wind turbines, to the south of the country, which is a major industrial consumer.
