4. Identify technologies for recovering waste heat

Selecting recovery technologies requires knowledge of the following parameters:

  • temperature and mass flow rate of thermal sources (cold and hot sources);

  • heat output recoverable from composite curves;

  • fluids and their thermophysical properties.

Various technical solutions are possible.

4.1 High-temperature heat pump

  • Function: capture thermal energy (waste heat) from the cold source and recover this energy in a compression or sorption cycle to heat the hot source.

  • Limits of use: cold source <80°C - hot source <130°C.
