Variable-frequency drives are widely used in many applications, such as:

• the pumps, to adjust the pumping speed according to fluid demand;

• fans, to control airflow based on ambient conditions or ventilation processes;

• compressors in refrigeration and air conditioning systems to adjust cooling capacity;

• conveyors, to adjust the speed at which goods are transported to match the production pace.

In addition, drive applications can be classified by category based on operating torque specifications, as shown in the following table:
