3. Simplified modeling of a misted-air condenser

The aim of this simplified model is to quantify the impact of misting an air-cooled condenser on its refrigerant-side phase-change temperature (condensing temperature) and its amount of dissipated heat. By linking it to an overall refrigeration system model, this modeling can also provide trends in the thermodynamic performance of the whole machine.

In this model, three points are particularly taken into account (figure 8 ):

  • Point B corresponds to the point upstream of misting. This point is characterized by the properties of the air, in particular its temperature and moisture content before misting;

  • point E characterizing the mixture of air and drops at the condenser...
