4. European standardization in the refrigeration sector

4.1 CEN/TC 182 "Refrigeration systems – Safety and environmental requirements".

The existence of CEN/TC 182 is closely linked to current regulations on protecting the ozone layer and combating the greenhouse effect. Political awareness of environmental aspects and energy consumption has led to the introduction of extensive legislation affecting the refrigeration and air-conditioning markets. The committee has seven active working groups (see figure 2 ) and is responsible for standardizing rules in the field of safety and environmental protection for the design, construction, installation, testing, operation, maintenance, repair and destruction of refrigeration systems used for cooling or heating....
