4. Concrete tiles

Concrete tiles are made from micro-concrete composed of sand, cement, and water, to which fillers and pigments are often added for coloring throughout.

They are manufactured continuously by rolling and extruding fresh micro-concrete onto metal molds (usually made of an aluminum-silicon alloy).

The special composition (sand/cement ratio + filler between 3 and 3.5) and manufacturing process result in a high-performance material (tensile strength of around 10 MPa) that is waterproof and frost-resistant, enabling the manufacture of all types of tiles (flat, interlocking, edge, ridge, etc.)..

Production is generally carried out on high-speed automatic lines (90 to 140 tiles per minute), the central element of which is the extruder. The molds, whose shape corresponds to that of the underside of the tiles, are fed end-to-end...
