Conclusion

The issue of anchor stiffness arises at every stage of the design process. In particular, overestimating anchor stiffness can lead to both "global" and "local" undersizing:

• overall behavior: there is a risk of underestimating the actual deformations of the overall structure (e.g. portal frame), as well as possible disruption to the estimation of torsorsors at the anchorages;

• local behavior: there is a risk of underestimating the tensile and compressive forces at play in the anchors themselves. In fact, insufficient anchor rigidity leads to increased tensile forces in the anchor rods, due to the appearance of additional physical phenomena, such as the lever effect.
