2. Manufacturing

2.1 Materials – Base products

The basic products are hot-rolled or cold-rolled strips suitable for cold forming and galvanizing, with thicknesses ranging from 0.45 to 15 mm and widths of up to 2,000 mm.

In common practice, wide products are produced in thicknesses of 0.5 to 1.5 mm; long products in thicknesses of 1.5 to 4 mm.

The yield strength of the base material ranges from 235 to 420 N/mm 2 for ordinary steels, and up to 700 N/mm 2 for high yield strength (HLE) steels.

HLE steels are rarely used in current practice.
