Private pool water

In theory, private swimming pools present fewer health risks than public pools, as there are fewer bathers. Nevertheless, they can be contaminated in a variety of ways:

• airborne contaminants ;

• dirt contained in the soil and all objects surrounding the basin;

• pathogenic micro-organisms carried by bathers and non-bathers circulating around the pool, when these comings and goings are not regulated by a lifeguard who ensures that bathers behave properly.

Precautionary measures can be taken:

• compulsory shower ;

• use of foot baths containing chlorinated water (rarely used in private pools, however);

• regular cleaning of the water surface...
