3.1 Thickness
Polymeric geomembranes are generally thin (typically 1 to 2.5 mm), while bituminous geomembranes are thick (3 to 6 mm).
However, PVC geomembranes are available up to 6 mm thick. In some countries, polymeric geomembranes with a thickness of less than 1 mm (e.g. 0.75 mm or 0.9 mm) are used, but in France, only products with a thickness of 1 mm or more are considered geomembranes.
