The technique involves piling up the soil and then treating it biologically (figure 7 ). This technique is widely used for heterogeneous soils that are easily biodegradable, and enables better treatment organization than in situ techniques. This technique is widely used despite the low cost of in situ techniques and their increasing performance.

  • Principle

    The aim of this technology is to biodegrade organic compounds present as impregnations in soils. It is based on two very different principles: biostimulation (§6) and bioaugmentation (§4). Generally speaking, this technique involves using micro-organisms to degrade organic compounds.
