 INTRODUCTION

The FNTP and the FFB have joined forces to present the issue of waste from the building and civil engineering sector, estimated at 310 million tonnes a year nationwide.

Construction, demolition, rehabilitation and maintenance activities generate 30 million tonnes. Public works activities linked to various earthworks, roadworks and distribution networks generate 280 million tonnes of surplus and waste, mainly in the form of cuttings and backfill.

While the two business sectors differ in terms of the nature and volume of their waste, they share a common commitment to the optimal recovery of construction site surplus and waste, taking into account technical, economic, environmental and social criteria.

This file situates construction waste management within a legislative and regulatory framework, recalls the specific characteristics of construction waste, and presents site practices with the responsibilities of those involved and the various disposal channels.

The reader will find in [Doc. C 5 600] some of the regulations and forms cited in this document.
